The Recipe Book for which are now for sale in all the shops in Dunning at a cost of 50p.
Each sweet was tasted to the full with custard, cream or milk and points out of ten were awarded by each table for each pudding.
Everyone had been given one spoon and were told to lick it clean between each course and only one plate (they could lick this as well if they wished).
There was plenty of time to enjoy the tales, stories and poetry of
Jim Douglas from Glenfarg (who was very keen to inform us he was a
Fifer from Kelty who had a hedgehog as a dog) and the grand voice of
Donald Innes also of Glenfarg who sung traditional Scots ballads and
from the shows beautifully…… a prelude to each course.
We were so fortunate to have them. (they are coming back to do a concert
for us along with Glenfarg Accordion and Fiddle Club)
Everyone had been asked to bring an apron and there were many in all
different disguises, Shaw with his very own blacksmith’s apron,
Suzette with her nuts and bolts in the pocket of her Holyrood apron
with vote for Steel, Ian with his frilly lace apron and Vivien with
her Bra and Suspenders, some old school aprons but those that won were
Alf with his own made and designed one for the wood, Shona with her
own mad adverts for Grouse, dum de dum de dum de dum and Albi with
his own very highly decorative and colourful wood scene.
After Jim Douglas sung so profoundly his famous “It’s
No a Doo a Dove Ma” and Donald’s lovely “Will ye
no come back Again” the tables were asked for their Votes and
Luxury Bread and Butter Pudding
By Carol Dorsett won.
Special Thanks were recorded to Simon Howie for his use of the Ban Maries, Jan Peebles for her designer Menus and Voting Papers, Carol Kinross for her typing of Recipe Books to all those who had made the puddings and especially the team leaders. To John and Mary Ritchie for all the Cream, Milk and Custard and Ted Dorsett for his Colourful Posters.
A special thanks to Lyndsay Robertson for coming up with the idea and carrying it through along with getting us Sponsorship from her employers Marsh, Insurance Brokers, of £ for £ up to £500. A great result of £546.22 after expenses but total with sponsorship £1,046.22
The Chairman wished everyone a very good night and then many people all set forth and cleared the Hall and washed the dishes. When we woke the next morning there was a blanket of snow, thank goodness that had not arrived the day before.
