The wood extends to 8 Hectares (20 acres) and is located on the B934, approx 1/2 mile north east of Dunning, Perthshire. Kincladie has been defined as being of plantation origin within the Ancient Woodland Inventory of Perth and Kinross district council. It is possible that the woodland is of ancient origin however which has existed without ever being cleared for grazing or arable farming since at least 1750. The ground flora found in Kincladie contains ancient woodland indicators; these include Wood anemone (Anemone nemerosa), violets (Viola spp.) and wood sorrel (Oxalis acetosella).

The woodland falls within three categories of the National Vegetation Classification (NVC), W11 upland oak-birch wood with bluebell, W17 upland oak-birch with blaeberry and W16 lowland oak-birch wood with blaeberry. Also found within the wood are areas of conifers planted in approximately 1988 as distinct areas or as an under storey within the broadleaves.

The ground flora and shrub layer are varied and contain many species including; honeysuckle, blaeberry, broom, gorse, and wood rush.
