Christmas Tree Recycling
Paul and Pauline Cookson arranged a January Saturday morning “Bring your Christmas Tree have it shredded and give Dunning Community Trust along with Tsunami a donation.
Lots of trees arrived along with lively youngsters all ready to see their used Christmas trees turned into shavings which in turn will be put to good use in the play park at the Dunning School. Some of the parents brought hot drinks so it became more of a social event which was wonderful.
David Methven, Kildinny loaned the shredder and Ian Philip, our Vice Chairman provided the tractor and bogie transport.
£150 was the donation we received … a great effort by everyone involved on a dreech morning.

The Carol Evening Amongst Friends
This event was held on Sunday 18th December 2005 went off very well with a lovely warm Duncrub Chapel and the ambience as you entered gave you a feeling of anticipation thanks to Wilma and James Marshall for the Christmas décor and Elizabeth Fletcher who embellished the windows. The candles added to the atmosphere and the Christmas tree sparkled.
The Chairman made the up- to- date announcements about the Trust and the evening began with the singing of Carols ably led by Janet Crowe, Karen Downes, Alan MacFarlane and Alan Kelman as a quartet with Grace MacFarlane at the keyboard. A “Friends” poem, a Christmas greeting from Malawi and a letter with greetings from Australia from a couple related to The Wilson’s of Kippen House who had just happened to attend last years DPHS’ Service were read.
The Quartet sung a very moving Bach piece, and we all wound up singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” A very nice buffet with hot mulled wine followed, all bountifully provided by hospitable members which went down very well with lots of chat especially about everybodies personal Christmas plans ……..a very successful evening.
After expenses the profit for our funds is £432.23p. Our grateful thanks to Wilma and James Marshall for all their help and making this all possible.
